The Sheep, a short film by tien
The story, based on true events
When a church elder claims God told him to leave his wife for a college girl, Pastor Ho must wrestle with faith, scandal, and the fractures within his Chinese American congregation—turning Sunday worship into a battlefield of desire and devotion.
Pre-production, a year long process
It started as a feature screenplay, a Slamdance 2025 quarterfinalist. After countless rewrites and storyboards, the idea has transformed into a short film—and after 12 months of pre-production, we’re finally ready to bring it to life.
3 days of the constant filming
We built a local crew in the bright fall days of New York and pushed through three twelve-hour days with six lead actors and over thirty extras—all on a shoestring budget. No reshoots. We couldn’t afford them, and honestly, we didn’t need them.
